Behavioral interviews ask for evidence from the past because that is easier to examine than a promise about the future. The evidence has to be yours.
Choose fewer stories
Four stories are enough for most early-career interviews: a project, a disagreement, a mistake, and a time you helped someone else succeed. Learn the facts of each story well enough to start from any question, rather than memorizing one paragraph per prompt.
Expect a follow-up
The second question is usually “what did you do?” or “what happened after?”. If your draft only works when nobody interrupts, it is a speech, not an interview answer. The STAR guide on this site is the longer version of this shape.
